Snack Attack – What’s on hand?
Mileage is high and I’m hungry!
What’s on hand?
Ozery Bakery Breakfast Pitas
My favorite flavor is apple cinnamon. If you haven’t noticed yet, I’m a sucker for raisin packed breads.
Why I like them: The pita has kind of a rustic texture that I enjoy. It delivers a nice balance with 150 calories, 31 grams of carbohydrate, 2 grams of fiber, and 5 grams of protein all in one serving. It’s also low fat with only 1 gram per pita.
When I read through the ingredients I like that I’m not trying to make sense of words or language I’m unfamiliar. I see it contains whole wheat flour, natural apples, raisins, no preservatives and added vitamins and minerals.
Now here’s the best part….. After toasting the pita I added a spread of almond butter – Yum! I’m not sure if you can tell, but the almond butter gets nice and gooey as it warms from the pita. The almond butter adds a little heart healthy fat and fiber as well as protein.
This energizing snack leaves me feeling satisfied and well fueled. If I have a sweet tooth, sometimes I add a drizzle of honey. Oh, and I didn’t have to shop at a specialty store for all the ingredients. You can find such items at Super Target.
Each 1 pita serving with 1 T. almond butter is approximately 250 calories, 9 grams of fat, 34 grams of carbohydrate, 8.5 grams of protein, and 4 grams of fiber.
