Rehydrate With This Post-Workout Beverage
It’s easy to tire of plain water after hard summer workouts, but we still want and need to rehydrate. Not all of us want to reach for commercial sports beverages that line the shelves after every workout. I’m thankful to have such easy access sports products in the race scene, but I like to incorporate natural options as often as I can in the day-to-day setting.
Here is a wonderful rehydrating treat after a sweat soaking workout. It was such a refreshing beverage yesterday after my lunchtime run and for my husband and son after a warm 2 hour baseball practice last night. It tastes great for all ages and works awesome in support our rehydrating needs.
Peachy Lemon Cooler
- 1/2 ripe peach (with or without skin)
- 1/2 lemon, juiced
- 1 c. water
- 1/2 c. ice
- 1 small pinch of salt
- 2 tsp. agave nectar (optional)
Blend all ingredients in a blender (I use a Magic Bullet) until smooth and frothy. Serve immediately.
Recipe makes 1 serving, about 12-14 ounces.
